Using behavioral science to understand decisions, diagnose barriers, and design better systems.

My name is Abhinanda Dash, and I’m a fifth year doctoral candidate in the Department of Communication at UCLA. I use experiments, behavioral diagnostics, and quantitative methods to study how social identity, inequality, and emerging technologies shape human judgment and decision-making. My work examines problems ranging from socioeconomic bias and occupational mobility to human-AI interaction, trust, and technology adoption, with a focus on translating behavioral evidence into practical insights for policy and organizations.

I work at the intersection of;

INEQUALITY & SOCIAL MOBILITY
How socioeconomic status and social identity shape perception, opportunity, and institutional decision-making.

HUMAN–AI INTERACTION
How people perceive, trust, and respond to robots and AI—and how psychological processes should inform responsible technology design.

BEHAVIOR & PUBLIC POLICY
How behavioral evidence can diagnose barriers, improve interventions, and inform more effective and equitable systems.
